Der Fechtverband hat in der Nacht auf Sonntag von der Aktion unseres U23 Teams in Estland erfahren. Swiss Fencing hat kein Verst\u00e4ndnis daf\u00fcr, dass sein Team die Siegerehrung f\u00fcr eine politische Manifestation missbraucht hat. Immerhin gilt es festzuhalten, dass unsere Sportler den israelischen Siegern nach dem Final sportlich gratuliert haben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Grunds\u00e4tzlich ist Swiss Fencing der Meinung, dass sich sportliche Wettk\u00e4mpfe nicht f\u00fcr politische Meinungs\u00e4usserungen eignen, auch wenn Sportlerinnen und Sportler nat\u00fcrlich ihre pers\u00f6nliche Meinung zum Weltgeschehen haben d\u00fcrfen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Swiss Fencing wird nach R\u00fcckkehr der Sportler aus Estland das Gespr\u00e4ch mit der U23 Mannschaft aufnehmen und dann \u00fcber allf\u00e4llige Massnahmen entscheiden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wir bedauern, dass dieses Verhalten die Gef\u00fchle der israelischen Delegation verletzt und die sportlichen Erfolge des Schweizer Teams mit drei Medaillen an dieser U23-Europameisterschaft diskreditiert hat. Wir gratulieren der israelischen Mannschaft zur Goldmedaille im Teamwettkampf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Swiss Fencing Federation has been informed about the actions of our U23 men’s team in Tallinn, Estonia, during the night of Saturday to Sunday. Swiss Fencing has no understanding for the fact that the team misused the award ceremony of the European U23 Team Championships for political means. However, it should be noted that the Swiss athletes congratulated the Israeli winners after the final in a sporting manner. As a matter of principle, Swiss Fencing is of the opinion that sporting competitions are not suitable for the expression of political opinions, even if athletes are of course allowed to have their own personal viewpoint on current world affairs. Swiss Fencing will discuss this important matter with the U23 men’s team after the athletes return from Estonia and then decide on any actions to be taken.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n We deeply regret that this behavior hurt the feelings of the Israeli delegation and demeaned the sporting success of the Swiss team with three medals at this U23 European Championships.
